Hetty Mentzel

Hetty joined Jimmy’s in September 2025 as East Road Team Leader.

She previously worked in the North East with young people who have been disadvantaged by experiences of the care and asylum systems, and coordinated the Durham Winter Night Shelter.

Prior to that, she worked as an English language teacher for people seeking asylum, volunteered in Calais, was involved with anti-slavery and environmental campaigns, and researched the use of letter writing as a tool against racial injustice.

She lives in a small Christian intentional community of adults with and without intellectual disabilities and also enjoys all things creative: salsa dancing, going to the theatre, reading, and drawing!
