On Wednesday 3rd December, we celebrated 30 years of Jimmy’s Cambridge in style at one of the city’s most iconic landmarks — Great St Mary’s, The University Church — with our first ever Christmas Carol Concert.
The evening was filled with joy, community spirit, and festive music. Two wonderful school choirs, Girton Glebe and The Grove Primary School, gave truly heart-warming performances, joined by two professional choirs — The Collaboration Choir and the Selwyn College Choir — whose harmonies filled the church with magic.
We were honoured to have two of our residents give readings during the concert, and our Head of Fundraising, Cat, shared a touching tribute remembering one of our much-loved residents, Johnny.
Our CEO, Natasha Davies, also spoke beautifully about what “home” really means. She was joined by local children, who shared their own thoughtful answers to her question, “What makes your home special? Their responses were simple yet profound: “My family,” “My mum and dad,” “My brother,” “It’s warm,” “My pets,” and even “My chickens!” (It seems Cambridge is home to quite a few pet chickens!).
As Natasha reminded us:
“Houses are not commodities, they are homes — and there aren’t enough of them for everyone.”
A heartfelt thank you to the 400+ wonderful people who came to support us on the night. We were truly blown away by the warmth, generosity, and love in the room.
✨ Join us in supporting people experiencing homelessness. Every donation helps create homes and hope:
Here’s to another 30 years of community, compassion, and hope.
