International Overdose Awareness Day 2025

As we approach International Overdose Awareness Day on August 31, we join a global movement dedicated to remembering lives lost to overdose, raising awareness that overdose is preventable, and bringing hope to those affected.

This Year’s Theme: “One Big Family, Driven by Hope

The 2025 IOAD theme emphasizes unity, compassion, and collective action in response to the overdose crisis. At Jimmy’s Cambridge, we believe that awareness, support, and empathy are the foundations of overdose prevention and recovery.

At Jimmy’s Cambridge, we believe that compassion, awareness, and support are the foundations of healing and prevention. Overdose Awareness Week is our moment to reflect, remember, and reaffirm our commitment to reducing stigma and promoting life-saving support.

  • Every person who stays with us is treated with dignity and empathy—no matter the challenges they face.
  • We prioritise access to Naloxone, and ensure that our entire team is trained to administer it. That means lives can—and do—get saved.
  • Substance use doesn’t exist in isolation. We offer holistic, non-judgmental, and tailored support—from mental health guidance and life skills to safe housing options.

Why This Matters for Jimmy’s Cambridge

  • Remembering and Honouring: Overdose Awareness Week offers a vital moment to honour those who have died from overdose and acknowledge the grief of families and loved ones.
  • Prevention and Support in Action: At Jimmy’s Cambridge, we equip our team with Naloxone training and offer compassionate, holistic support—from safe housing and mental health services to recovery pathways.
  • Power of Partnership: We are deeply grateful for our ongoing collaboration with Change Grow Live (CGL) Cambridge—a partnership that strengthens our outreach, harm-reduction work, and collective impact.
