Bullseye the Dog – Finalist in BBC Make a Difference Awards 2025

At the BBC Radio Cambridgeshire Make a Difference Awards 2025, the Animal Award celebrates remarkable animals that improve people’s lives or individuals and groups working to enhance animal welfare. This year, Bullseye, the loyal canine companion of Frank from Jimmy’s Cambridge, has been announced as a finalist, highlighting the profound impact animals can have on our lives.

The Power of Pets at Jimmy’s

Since welcoming pets at Jimmy’s Cambridge, it’s become clear that dogs offer far more than friendship—they have become lifelines to many residents. As shared in the “Power of Pets” post from December 2024: the presence of dogs brings structure, companionship, dignity, and purpose to people experiencing homelessness.

Frank & Bullseye:

Anyone who knows Frank from Jimmy’s Cambridge can’t imagine him without his inseparable dog, Bullseye. The connection between them is profound and palpable — no words are needed when you see them together.

But it was only when I asked Frank to talk about Bullseye that I truly understood the depth of their bond. During our conversation, Frank became visibly emotional, eventually hiding his tears with his head on the table. It was a moment that revealed just how much Bullseye means to him.

Frank found Bullseye as a puppy, tied to a bench in Jesus Green Park, Cambridge. At the time, Frank already had a dog but chose to rescue Bullseye nonetheless. What neither of them knew then was that Bullseye would end up rescuing Frank’s life in more ways than one.

For many years now, Bullseye has been a constant companion to Frank, standing by him through life’s highs and lows. But Bullseye is more than just company — he’s been vital in giving Frank a sense of purpose and responsibility. Often, Bullseye has been the reason Frank keeps going, providing emotional support that words can’t describe.

Their relationship, built on trust and affection, has offered Frank consolation and warmth that he couldn’t find elsewhere. As Frank puts it:

“A dog is not just a pet. He is a friend, a soulmate, a brother, all in one. I would not change him for the world!”

It’s no surprise that Bullseye has been nominated as a finalist in the BBC Radio Cambridgeshire Make a Difference Awards 2025 — a true testament to the incredible impact one dog can have on a life.

Good luck to all the finalists in this year’s BBC Make a Difference Awards. Every story reminds us of the strength, resilience, and love that exists in our communities — both human and animal alike. 🐾
