Jimmy’s works with many other organisations to try and find the best solutions for our guests: whether that means a more permanent address, support with substance dependencies, making contact with families, looking after physical health, finding out more about job or study opportunities, or managing mental health problems.
Daily or weekly, professionals and volunteers from a range of organisations visit us to work with our guests, and we liaise externally with many groups. These include: the Street Outreach Team, Cambridge City Council, WinterComfort, Cambridge Cyrenians, Addaction, Inclusion, Samaritans, Dhiverse, Royal British Legion, Flack, Supporting People, Riverside Housing, Salvation Army and many more.
Former guests and others who have experienced homelessness are an equally important part of delivering and developing our service. Service user-led groups like Cambridge Link-Up and REACH bring a real ‘expert by experience’ perspective and valuable support to current guests.
The work undertaken by Jimmy’s and its partners is wide-ranging and has the potential to make a huge difference to many people’s lives. Housing and health are invariably the priorities for our guests, but there are many other initiatives across the city, from music to literacy, from gardening to arts and crafts, and from IT to sports.
