You can benefit in so many ways from volunteering at Jimmy’s, including meeting new people, building confidence, making new friends, developing skills, enhancing your cv, boosting your career options and being part of a community. But most importantly you will be giving a helping hand to some of the most vulnerable and excluded people in our society.

We are committed to our volunteers and highly value their involvement within our service. We aim to provide a setting where our volunteers can gain a broader understanding of some of the issues that surround homelessness and a sympathetic awareness which it is hoped they will be able to share with others in their workplaces, with friends and family and in the wider community.
Jimmy’s is the winner of the Queen’s Award for Outstanding Voluntary Service in the Community.
For any people, their first shift at Jimmy’s may be their first experience of meeting people who are homeless, have mental health issues, or have drink or drug problems. For some who have volunteered at Jimmy’s, this first shift has changed their lives; many of our former colleagues in the volunteer team have gone on to a career in working with homeless and vulnerable people, both in the UK and abroad. Countless others have willingly given their time and support to Jimmy’s and its guests over many years — making a real difference to our work and the well-being of our guests.
